Eight months ago when my doctor told me I needed to stop drinking any form of alcohol to fight my candidiasis, I told him he was crazy. I couldn't live without my glass of wine after a stressful day of work! After a couple of hard weeks through my detox, I finally got over the urge and stopped drinking.
However, I still missed drinking from my wine glasses, so I started pouring my organic kombucha in them and 'disguising' it as wine. I learned that drinking was more of a mental thing for me, and I didn't need the alcohol every day or every week for that matter. When hanging out with friends I sometimes would even hide the fact that I wasn't drinking. Synergy Kombucha is my personal favorite, but there are many other great brands out there.
Using fermented foods to help fight candidiasis is a little controversial, as you will hear differing opinions depending on your Doctor. Initially I gave up fermented foods, including my kombucha, but recently started to introduce it back in my diet when I started learning about the benefits of fermented foods through my school, Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of fermented foods for digestive problems and autoimmune diseases, check out Donna Gates from Body Ecology. She recomends using coconut kiefer to help aid with digestiion and makes a great kiefer starter kit.
