Searching for Gluten Free Halloween Candy?

I was born on Halloween and love all the tricks and treats that come along with it. This is my first birthday where I realized that all grains, including rice and corn have a form of gluten, and that I have an intolerance to dairy. As you can imagine finding true gluten free treats isn't easy. 

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you aren't going to find much gluten free halloween candy out there. Food manufactures will claim that their candy is gluten free, but it's not.

How To Have Gluten Free Treats In Moderation

I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time consuming my gluten free baked goods in moderation. To help with my portion control I started making my baked good treats in mini-muffin tins. Here is one of my favorite Pumpkin Muffin Recipes for fall: 

 1 cup blanched almond flour
1⁄4 teaspoon celtic sea salt
1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda

1 tablespoon cinnamon
1⁄2 teaspoon cloves

1⁄2 cup roasted pumpkin or pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons honey

1⁄4 teaspoon stevia

3 eggs
**Optional – top with walnuts or chocolate chips (I recommend using Enjoy Life Chips or Equal Exchange)

Eat This, Not That: Pumpkin Juice vs. Pumpkin Latte

Best Gluten Free Muffins With No Added Sugar

I am currently following a yeast free diet (very similar to the Candia Diet), which means I can’t consume any foods that convert to sugar to quickly. Processed and refined sugar has to be 100% avoided. We should all try to cut back on refined sugar regardless, and swap it for maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, and stevia.

Best Gluten Free Beef Jerky

One of the most challenging things being on a gluten free diet is finding the right snacks that are safe to consume and making sure that you always have them on hand. I don't know about you, but when I'm hungry and I'm stranded without food - I am the biggest grump! 

Another great gluten free snack that I'd make sure to stock up on is Steve's Paleo Goods. He has a lot of great snacks that are all safe to consume on a true gluten free diet. My favorite is the grass fed beef jerky and paleo sticks. They are filling and a great protein source for you when you're on the go.
